is this art deco?

is this panther statue art deco?

 

I think they would be more 60's or 70's but I guess you could say they are art deco style

 

doesn't look very smooth on its right side ?

art deco style but misses the mark.

do we get to see the underside ?

 

it is a thick glaze on pottery and yes it is a little lumpy, this is the underside. no mark.

 

Deco in style at least, if not from the 30s or 20s. I'd call him 1980s Deco Revival, probably.

I agree, this said 1980s to me.

 

Here is a set, one of which is like yours. The seller thinks Italian and estimates 1970s but no way to know if they know. The base is a little different but still unmarked.

I wonder if they are a lion and lioness perhaps?

I agree, trying to be Art Deco style but JMHO not quite right, from late in the 20th century.

 

yes those where the only ones i could found which look the same. but if the are 20th century why are the not more on the internet?

for something to be found on the Net .. it has to be uploaded to the net...
& not everything is....... specially newer items .

also.... search terms , have to be precise and the same as what the item was called by whomever posted it to the web....

so , this item could be out there under the title of ..

pretty white lion
while glaze feline
proud ceramic cat

or a host of other names..... that one would never think to search for....
