I found this last week at a local thrift store (would have put up earlier but we've been following/waiting on hurricane Milton!).
It looks like it's pencil signed by Louis Icarte in the lower right, and it also says something I can't make out on the bottom left corner - can anyone tell what it says?
The piece looks dark, but 3 out of 4 other ones I googled trying to find out what was written in left corner, we're also dark - is this normal?
Also near top/mid left over the woman's head area it looks like there's some mold or discoloration - is this on the paper or the glass?
Should I take it out of frame? (all the ones I've found were selling for $1,000+ so I want to be sure!)
    Thanks for any help!

Are you saying this is an original pencil drawing? Are you sure ? (It’s difficult to see) Looks like a late 80’s early 90’s crappy cheap frame? Looks like mould to me. It would have been good to see a photo of the back. If it was mine I would have taken out of the frame to see properly and look at that ‘mold’ issue. But wait for other more knowledgeable members.

    epreuve d'artiste

Artist's proofs are not included in the count of a limited edition, and sometimes the number of artist's proofs, which belong to the artist, can be twenty or more. By convention, the artist is not supposed to sell these at once. However, some artists use it as a method of re-issuing an edition that has sold out,
