    Hi folks

going through some old stuff that i never got around to selling

bought this a while ago at local auction, think i might have posted it as an add on to another painting i bought but not as a single thread so would like more eyes on it.

quite a nice example actually, presuming sometime in the 19th century

under glass so hard to get a decent picture

    measures 28 inches tall

gonna be a tricky one to post so if value is minimal, might not bother

probably will never find the artist, but any thoughts or info appreciated

The label is for Vicars Brothers. Printer and publisher. 1907-1923. According to the British Museum.

    She's going to be 1860s-ish.

I think she's quite a lovely pastel portrait. I love her face. I would assume a commissioned portrait from 19th c. "High Class Paintings" for sure! :D

thanks for the info peeps, very helpful
makes sense it being a commissioned piece as i get the impression she's not a noteworthy figure, do like that background colour scheme

She's lovely and all the more so for not being conventionally pretty -- aquiline nose, long jaw, slight overbite.
