Called as much by the place I bought it on a whim from. I only got to see a couple photos right before buying. The pot has a totally flat bottom and doesn’t really feel thousands of years old. The two holes are kind of strange. I saw the first one and thought someone made a lamp of it for a minute, then saw the 2nd hole. It has the look of having been recovered from the earth but I don’t know if it’s honest. Condition is abnormally good if it’s legit. Looks like maybe bird effigy handles? Neat piece either way but wondering what it really is. Definitely a primitive design. Hopefully it’s legitimately old. Thoughts?

    The pot is about 6 1/2”. 40F31B6C-66C6-434D-84C9-08A04C7BAC83.jpeg D85F051C-E90E-430E-9DBB-1EEC498FCD31.jpeg 3793BA42-45C2-44A9-885B-40651BF82BD6.jpeg 7B939491-BDF7-4B80-A042-1F19890A7AEC.jpeg 0FFFBE5F-D638-4D0E-99C2-9592BC80F20F.jpeg

I have never seen a foot like that on a precolumbian pot.

Precisely my thought. Which then lead me to question what it actually was.

It also looks like it might be made on a wheel. The shape is similar to Indian (India) brass water pots. It might be a modern decorative piece.

I absolutely don’t have the knowledge. So this is really just my first thoughts and nothing more. But that doesn’t look and ‘feel’ right to me to be anything near old enough to be pre- columbian. Looks quite modern and decorative in function. Something for display and not use.

I don’t doubt it could be modern. Luckily it was a lot with two pieces and I do believe the other one to be very old. This one I still find interesting though. It’s a great looking piece (IMO) even if new. The Indian thought is one I’d have never come up with. I’ll look at that.
