I did find a photo, with figures in different colors,from the book mentioned however I can't say I can read the caption.

I had Dutch wooden shoes when I was a kid. Boy they hurt.

 

Very cute, but not correct costume-wise. (At first I thought he was wearing a chef's hat.)
