Hi all! I bought this piece from someone who I buy a lot of lovely antique jewelry from. It seems to be Arts and Crafts, no marks on it be tests as silver and rock crystal quartz cabochons. I bought it to wear as a necklace but believe it is a belt. It measures 35"L. Can you tell me anything else about it eg. possible origin and if it is of the Arts and Crafts period? I believe the silver has been planished. I really do love it. Thanks for any extra info :)

it looks like it would be uncomfortable to wear as a necklace with two of those silver rounds sitting on the back of your neck.......

    I think it's a belt also..

It's actually not uncomfortable, the rounds just don't sit exactly flat the way I would like them to as a necklace. It does look nice as a belt too, I just don't wear belts much

Okay, what!? I'm obsessed with this piece. I would love to wear it as a belt over a black tunic top maybe? Or a soft jersey dress. So cool. :woot:

I see what you mean, similar in some ways! I bought it from England so I'm thinking a little less likely but always possible! :)

Wow. "Fabulouso" as stated! Certainly looks like sterling. I agree with belt -- I (think) later than Arts and Crafts period. Not that this helps with definitive info, but did the seller know any of the history?

Sadly no, I believe it was purchased at auction and not much info given other than likely Arts and Crafts I think!

The length should provide a clue as to age. Does it sit at the waist or the hip?

No idea? Couldn't you put it wherever you want, waist or hip? I guess it would depend on your waist or hip size nowadays, it falls just below my waist on to hips.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Beautiful! Looks like the silver has a hammered finish. And @Elen Beattie used the word "planished." New to me, so I learned a new word.
