IMG_5332.jpeg IMG_5333.jpeg IMG_5334.jpeg IMG_5326.jpeg IMG_5329.jpeg Hi all,is this vintage or antique?. Looks antique to me. Stork looks to carrying a cupcake :) (or another bundle of joy) Maybe sterling silver? (No magnetic) There’s something like a stamp be hind the one wing (looks like letters to me and not numbers?) Maybe ATTS? (Probably wrong) Thanks for any comments

I like the look and don’t really want to clean it. But do you think it’s sterling silver?

I'd lay good odds. Try using the good old thumb test. Rub hard with your thumb and see if any of the tarnish rubs off. If your thumb turns gray straight off, the odds of silver are high. If it takes real rubbing or doesn't happen at all, the odds go way down.

IMG_5344.jpeg IMG_5348.jpeg IMG_5341.jpeg Right you are. Thanks again @evelyb30 .The tarnish rubs off nicely. A pretty little thing. So the mark: SILV or SRV? for Silver? So would it be sterling silver right not pure silver? I read sterling silver tarnishes easier than pure silver.

It looks like it was poorly cast with surface bubbles and full of porosity,I'm surprised it wasn't tossed into the scrap bin and not "sold".

Certainly silver. I’ve a double bird one very like that, I’ve surmised Scandinavian origin.

and there’s nowt wrong with it.

I think it is charming.:) That halfway realistic style is typical of S African animal jewellery, so I think it is a local piece. The marking also suggests locally made, it is seen in several former British colonies.
Yes, SILV for silver. Could be lower than sterling because S Africa also used a 'sterling' mark. But I am no expert on S African precious metal marking.;)

Interesting comments and information. I will research a little more. Maybe I can find something similar. I really didn’t consider that it would perhaps have been locally made. Thanks AJ
