Hello friends. Found this little thing lurking in my workroom under a bunch of miscellaneous goodies. 6 1/2" long, 3" wide and weighs 4.4 grams. I haven't tried to clean it up yet. I believe there is a monogram in the center medallion but I sure can't decipher what letters it holds.

Your help is greatly appreciated as always!

Believe that is a Wallace mark with the stag.

Good grief! I completely missed that mark, focused on the other 3 bits and had to get the light on it just right before it jumped out at me! Many thanks @verybrad! I'm afraid to tell my kids I missed it, I can just hear them "oh dear, poor mom is losing it" with dad concerned looks on their faces.:oops:

I stretched the monogram and I think it's something like CDE or GDE.

I see CDG. You'll be able to confirm/not when polished.

I see no one has commented on age. I think with the hand hammering, style of the medallion and the monogram, it would be 1910s - 20s. The monogram looks art deco but the rest more arts and crafts period.

Similar form from a 1916 Wallace catalog:

Excellent! Thank you so much! Now I know it is a pin tray. I did some polishing on it this evening and will post pics tomorrow. I think the monogram is GDE but we'll see what everyone thinks.

    Thank you thank you! Linda

Hello everyone! It's autumn and really feels like it here in SW Wisconsin. And I'm loving it.
Here's pics of the tray shined up a bit. The tarnish is hard to get out of the hammered texture, I feel like I shouldn't be rubbing hard enough to get it completely bright. I may hit it again to get a bit more off the back but I think the front is pretty good. I think CDE is the monogram, what say you all?

Thanks for all the help and that catalog page is wonderful.

Hate to say it but it looks like someone has gone at this with some steel wool at some point. The scratches are visible in your first pics, so I know it wasn't you. The polishing just makes them more visible. The good thing is that, being sterling, these could be buffed out. The bad thing is that it would take a fair bit of effort to do so unless you have the proper machinery.

Well, I'm very glad you could tell it wasn't me. I have a stack of old washcloths and cloth diapers that I use for cleaning my finds. I ordered a jar of Hagerty's quite a while back and that's what I use. I will give it another go and give it room in a display case in my booth in Iowa. Thanks to everyone for all the help!
