Antique Jewelry Box Age Estimation Help

Is it mahogany or tiger wood, Measure 12"H Handles are brass tubing bent to fit, no signs of nails nor screws, handles anchored by unknown means as material covers backside of drawer, 1 drawer 3 compartments and three drawers with 12 furrows each. Asian or English? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thx in advance.

 

It looks like a specimen cabinet, maybe a model.

I'd stock it with pens...

 

As you can see, those rings don't sit comfortably there, no slits to hold them in place, so no support. Precious materials can bump into each other causing scratches and chipping.
Those long rows are designed for something else.
If you want to use it for jewellery, it is best to create buffers between the rings etc. Simple cotton wool will probably do the job, as long as the cabinet isn't moved around.

It is a sweet little cabinet though, and I agree with Johnny, it looks newish Asian.

I have never seen a cigar chest that was lined with fabric like that. Lining is not very functional or sanitary for a cigar box imho. Cigar boxes often have slits in the drawers, for circulation.

It might be a pen cabinet. That would depend on how big the slots are, but I doubt it would be anything else.

For it to be a pen cabinet, it'd have to have drawers at least 6 inches deep.

Age? Definitely not that old, but very attractive at least.
