Hello everyone! I have purchased a beautiful necklace (I'm still waiting for it to arrive). I tried researching it online but it seems to be a one off and gives me the impression it was handmade by an artisan. The design looks mostly like some Asian pendants? What could the gems be? Anyhow, I am very excited to hold this pretty little thing. Any info would be greatly appreciated! :cat:

One more photo showcasing the drop gem. I am unable to edit my original post on my phone so uploading in here. The seller mentioned garnet and ruby stones.

Looks like a piece of 1960s/1970s costume jewelry with an Oriental-influenced design to my eye. What information did the seller provide? And am I correct in assuming no marks?

Hello Debora, the seller hasn't mentioned other relevant details in the listing. :)

One sign this is costume - the dangle at the bottom isn't soldered shut. Gold and silver generally are. The back texture on the dangle says Costume too.

Hi Evelyb! Yeah, the ring not being soldered is kind of a giveaway that this is a costume piece. I've also noticed the 'lattice' pattern also is not very neat but quite messy.

I thought the back of the dangle looked like a maker's mark. If just a decorative design, you would expect it to be symmetrical.

It could be both; some back textures are diagnostic on costume jewelry. Companies like 1928 Jewelry Co and Ciner have a texture that's their signature.

Take some good photos when you receive the piece,I would not say the piece is "costume" until the metal has been checked for purity. It appears to have been poorly cast, casting air bubbles in many areas, the stones have been "glued"to the surface. Having an unsoldered means little as many people don't solder jump rings for various reasons,
