Featured Gold bangle identification help

    20240915_110247.jpg 2024-09-17 08_58_41-Photo - Google Photos.jpg Hello from New Zealand! My wife recently inherited a gold bangle and we were wondering if our readings of the hallmarks are correct.

    Looking at the marks it appears to be manufactured in Birmingham in 9ct with a "n" for the year, but which one it is appears to be not so easy to match. Also I can't decipher the left-hand most mark.. "A I" perhaps?

    We are interested to understand the date and possible value for insurance purposes. Many thanks!

    The date letter n denotes 1912, I can't find a match for AI, AL, AJ, AT,
    It looks like it has some damage, the value is in its weight.
    Currently, 9ct x 1gram is NZ$50.22

    The "AI" would be the maker's mark.

    Very pretty bangle! If she's interested in wearing it occasionally then she should see a jeweler to replace the safety chain with soldered closed rings.

    I have almost the same bracelet that belonged to my grandmother! I wear it sometimes and am always worried it's going to come off because the safety chain is gone.

    Thanks for the information! I have literally looked at every Birmingham maker's mark in the online databases and can see nothing that really fits at all. Is this unusual?

    Not unusual, there were many makers, not all got listed.
    As one of our former members used to say , "Made by blokes in sheds"
