This is a very intriguing estate sale.
87 miles one way.
Do you think it would be worth the drive?

A lot of good items there for sure but too many variables to say if it would be worth the drive.

If it's anything like the good sales by me, people will get there at 5AM on day one and wait for the numbers. If you are thinking about going on day one, and want something in particular, you could get a cheap hotel close to the sale.

If you're mainly a reseller, that strategy may not be a good approach.

Are there any other decent sales nearby? You could make a day out of it and possibly find some good items elsewhere.

 

I despair any more with estate sales. The ones Ive been to have all been cursed by the internet researchers . Prices WAY too high. Last one I stopped by had stained Tupperware for $5 a piece ! And that was day 2 !

 

By me, the companies that didn't switch to online venues during/after Covid seem to have mainly 'cookie cutter' sales. Sparse with a lot of housewares and furniture, cheap glassware and artwork that nobody wants, and everything is staged and neatly presented.

I miss the days where I could go to dig-out sales every weekend and find those hidden treasures

is it normal to collect sales tax ????

 

Yes unless you have a resale license

 

Nothing there sang at me at all. I'd go if it were very local and nothing else was on, but...nah. Too much guy stuff.

Collecting sales tax does happen, but usually only if it's some big outfit from close to New York City. With no manners. I avoid them on sight. Usually it's taken out on the back end and all things are sold with an even-numbered price. That way no one's dealing with change.

 

Wow, lots of Watchmakers stuff. Unfortunately not too many around anymore.

 

I wonder if they checked every case for silver..?
