I’ve had tea at the Empress, I stayed there.

You need proper fruit cake and also smoked salmon sandwiches on Hovis.

After looking them up, they sound like mini pecan pies minus the pecans. Pure goo with a side of starch? i'm down!

I have pecans here because many goodies can be elevated by adding pecans. :D:D

I love a piece of pecan pie but will only buy a single slice because I swear I would eat the whole thing myself. :nailbiting::jawdrop::hungry::hungry::hungry:

Have you had Derby Pie? Sort of a chocolate chip pecan pie with Bourbon in it. A Louisville, KY specialty. :) So addicting.

Re: eating a whole pecan pie:

Now that's a thought.... I could do that, and if not I'd give it the old college try.

Heard of it. I'd definitely give it an honest appraisal. You'd get the pie plate back.

When I was 19, I studied French at the University of Ottawa for 6 weeks in the summer -- free bursary from the federal government! There was a cafe near the university where a few of us went to eat. The owner made the best pecan pie -- I had a piece every time we went there.

It depends on how many chocolate chips are in it. I may need to "cut it" with some vanilla ice cream. :joyful::joyful:

You need to try Blue Bunny Carmel Butter Pecan Praline ice cream if you can find it up there. :hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry::D

I truly wish I had discovered it when I was 19 because back then I could have eaten as much as I wanted but unfortunately that metabolism is looooooong gone. :p:grumpy::grumpy:

Derby pie as in Kerns? I thought that had walnuts? Or am I mistaken?

Come to think of it, I believe it is made with walnuts! We always make it with pecans at home so I forgot.

What about macarons - they are almost too pretty to eat!
And for me Earl Grey is an absolute must.
