little bronze devil

Hi folks

something else i bought at the local auction. might have bid a little too much(£18) but was getting pissed at being outbid

it is bronze though and signed

maybe missing a pitchfork or something

not sure what its supposed to be, maybe some kind of mythical creature

havent been able to find the maker

I do not recognize it as anything from classical mythology. Roaring's suggestion, which looks like a Medieval source, is probably as close as anything.

Is it just me, or are the feet on backwards? Looks like a gargoyle. May be Joe's own fantasy creature.

I think that was on purpose; I'm vaguely remembering demonic figures being shown with their feet backward. Maybe King James I thought you could recognize them that way.

 

I love it! A bargain for sure for such a unique item. You could make her a little pitchfork out of a wooden match stick.
