Featured Silver box

Hey folks!

I need your help once again...
I am struggling to ID this thing. Marks are heard to read. Any ideas of what it says? Also, what does the writing on the chain mean? I think it says PLATINON or something.
What could this thing be used for, pills?
Diameter of the box is approx. 5 cm (2 inches).

I think the mark on the case is 925.

 

Platinon was mainly used in the first half of the 20th century.

With that gilded interior I wonder if it was intended to be a small snuff box, maybe for a watch chain. You could just get your fingers in for a pinch of snuff.

 

Box could be later than the chain. With the alloy type indicated on the chain being different than the alloy of the box. 925 as a mark being seen less in that era. Unless it was above 1000. 925/1000. The font on the 925 does seem a bit older though.

 

I agree that it is likely a marriage, but the 925 mark was already used in the 19th century.

 

I'd be thinking pillbox hung on a chain. Some lady may have done this to haul around her saccharin tablets about 50 years ago. The chain and box are older than that of course.
