Old Bronze bangle, Asian, possibly Cambodian?

    Hey Everyone, I'm looking for help to identify this item (see image). It is solid bronze, very heavy and made for a very small wrist. I thought it looked like it might be south east Asian in origin but I simply don't have enough knowledge on the subject. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hummm, that may well be African.
    They're known for their money bracelets in bronze....

    If I had to guess I'd guess Ethiopian. The Nigerians work in bronze too, but the design doesn't feel West African. I may well be wrong, because this is way out of my wheelhouse.

    Update: talked with a specialist who deals in African currency bracelets, but he said the style was unlike any he had seen and it may in fact be Islamic in origin. Still searching for a positive ID
