    Hello everyone. Need help, is this "factory" painting ,framed in England? Signature I can see ''J. Mas '' ,frame dated 29 sep.2003,painting made on some ''wood ''.If someone can explain to me ,it will l be good. Thank you. Sorry about my english.     That may be but... They're not art. And they're meant to deceive.

    Hello everyone, i also just aquirered a painting with a label that says Roe Bros. Is that a real firm or just made up. And my painting is on thick wood and looks old and so does the frame or is it al fake as you mentioned Debora?? 30.jpg 31.jpg 32.jpg

    Unfortunately, it does appear to be a decorative painting. Clues are the artificial aging to the back panel and the staples that hold the frame together.

    There is mention of Roe Bros. on the internet as being an artists' supply company at one time. Here's an example from a 1934 trade journal.

    But I suspect that trade name has been used in the recent past to add a dubious provenance to commercially-made artwork.

    All of these works that bear the Roe Bros. label also appear to be decorative paintings.
