Feeling dumb here. Where is Corvilla CA? Never heard of it and couldn’t find anything other than a care facility.

 

Think I found him. George Julius Ernst. Born 1915. Grew up in Los Angeles. Lived in Thousand Palms and Banning in later years.

Can’t be mule ear then and prob is Coachella Valley!

 

I see an obit for him; doesn't mention that he was an artist. Seems like it has to be him, though, given the dates and the locations.

Went into daddy's auto supply business. Father a German immigrant. Painting full time might not have been an option.

If anyone has a copy of Edan Hughes he could be mentioned. EH is the quintessential guide of CA desert landscape painters but I believe it only goes to 1940…
