Featured French? Teapot ID

    Todays car boot purchase! I’ve exhausted Google and only come to the conclusion that it could be French?
    Or not…..
    It’s a good size at c8.5” handle to spout and 3.5” tall. The painting looks good quality even if the subject matter of trapping birds is debatable.
    The marks are so faint it’s tricky to see what they say. One is an 8, possibly an AC? and the other I can’t read at all.
    Any help please!

    Never seen one with a sunken lid.:)

    I think that's the lid from the sugar bowl . Maybe the sugar broke and the teapot lid did too, so they married pot and lid.

    Could well be! Fits pretty snugly so a sensible move.

    A sugar bowl of that date would not have been small enough to have such a tiny lid.

    id pop it on the Potty Porcelain group.

    That’s the one. I think your pot might be early nineteenth, but someone on that group will absolutely know.

    Also, I think that may be the correct lid -- why else gild the rim which would be hidden if there was a larger lid?
