    Hello, I'd like to inquire if anyone can provide information about this antique silver item. I was told by its previous owner that it is Navajo but I highly doubt that, and I think it is Indian subcontinental. He originally purchased it at an estate sale circa 2019 for 650 USD. It seems to be of silver, but does not have a stamp. The blade is non-magnetic. Photo on 23-07-2024 at 09.10 #2.jpg Photo on 23-07-2024 at 09.10.jpg

    It’s Korean, a eunjangdo, worn by women.

    Even if modern, I would put it back on. It may have had some kind of protective significance and may mean something to Korean people.

    Could you post a photo of the bead charm?

    YES. He's the story: I bought it for the charm - because it was advertised as a certain valuable gem. It turned out the charm was basically worthless, except for the silver content, as the gem was a piece of fiberoptic glass with nice visual effects, available even in the modern marketplace for a low price.

    Thanks for the photos.
    I think that chatoyance could be the clue, like a cat's eye. It may mean something to a Korean, maybe comparable to a Turkish evil eye charm.

    Well just to prove that you really do learn something new every day!

    I have collected edged weapons etc. for nearly sixty years, and when I couldn't actually collect them I was reading about them, but I must admit that I have never ever heard of an eunjangdo dagger or knife! Thank you for educating me, and bringing this knife to my attention! :)

    First time I've heard the term 'chatoyance'.I initially thought it related to spiritualism,aka some kind of mineral 'clairvoyance' !
    PS-I should get a Joolie Dictionary.:shame::p:cool:
