    There was revived interest in Staffordshire figures in the 1970s and the label looks to date from that decade.

    The bases of the genuine Fitz and Floyd pieces appear to have been covered in black, not green, felt.

    It's actually a thin sheet of black rubbery stuff that, unfortunately, is becoming a bit brittle as it ages.
