I don't mind giving stuff away, but I've had some of mine THROWN away. Often they were things I worked hard to learn about and research. Throwing out the stuff means you don't value the work that went into them and by extension the worker. Finding them new homes is one thing. Trash...how to get your kid to never speak to you again in three easy lessons.

Gotta corner them! Thanks for visiting! After dinner we're getting X number of bins down and going through them for memories sake! Take what you want, then a donate/sell and trash pile.

Some of their things may be worth something but they may have no time to bother with it. In that case, I'd consider it yours to sell. Unless you find a 5 figure Pokemon card and feel like sharing the wealth lol.

I would never throw out what is not mine. My kids know, neither of us would do that. However, one lives in Germany, the other in Ca. We live in Florida. So it is kind of tricky to a degree. I brought my silver over a few pieces at a time, she brought some home the same way.

@mirana I am clueless about those cards what is a 5 figure Pokémon card? I am seriously clueless about what I was buying them when it came to things like cards….

The sports cards & stuff some are my husbands some are my “kids”. Those he can figure out if they dont want them.

The rest, eventually will be up for grabs.

Five digits of price... If you look at eBay solds, flipped to highest sold, and skip the guy who sold a bunch for BIN somewhere under 1 million (LOL), you'll scroll for a while on cards that sold for 5 figures. Highest right now is 25k. Personally I think there's a fair bit of money laundering going on lol.

I never collected Pokemon, but there is a weird frenzy about them. The original old cards, especially certain rare characters, can be worth quite a lot I understand. You'd have to do some research (there have been reprints), condition would have to be good, might have to grade/authenticate if it was a big one, etc.

You are very sweet, and I have the same opinion on not throwing away other people's things. Your kids feel no urgency to help you out with downsizing that stuff because they know this though. ;) If you got real determined then you might open a bin and take photos to get answers, but I understand it's easier to let it lie.

Tempting, I had no clue what they were in 96 when I bought them. He was interested, I kept buying & buying them for both of my kids, they are a year apart. My younger one traded his with him for his baseball cards. They were always trading something. I still have their video games & the systems stored, gameboys, the games, my husband & I still have our original iPods (I never used mine) I have very old electronic games from when I was a kid, (57)a Sony Walkman from the year they came out, if I dig deep enough one of us may have an Atari system (husband) My oldest is a sneaker head, always has been, but he is usually spot on when he gets into something. My youngest likes to watch his bank account grow. Glad my attic is large enough to store all of it. I have 3 spare bedroom that I refuse to clutter, so when they left we boxed it & hubby brought up into the attic which oddly enough I have never been in.

This may end up becoming the only skateboard chat outside of anything on FB (I don't go there).

2 of my boards came from estate sales, that's probably not a good sign, lol.

Remember that skating is now in the Olympics, so you will be seeing that soon!!

Wanted to share that if you are looking for a positivity person or motivational speaker to help reshape your focus, look up the videos on YouTube from veteran skater Rodney Mullen. The guy has some great insights on how the gift of skateboarding can be applied to other facets of life.

I had a valterra 1980s skateboard as a kid that was used in back to the future and by chance I found one at a garage sale and now cherish it

    Nice!!!

I had someone outside the US offer me a board in trade for a set of vintage wheels that I have. At first glance, it looked cool, but something looked off. I started doing my homework and found a site showing an example of a cloned board. Not only was it the same model he'd offered me, it's the identical board, wear marks and all!! I sent him the link, can't wait to see what he comes back with...

When I was 15 (1964) I saw the McCoys in concert in NH. I knew the DJ so I was backstage. One of the band was from California and he was cruising around on a skateboard. It was the first time we'd seen one.

I don't think I got to share but I scored this board for cheap off of eBay, and bought it solely to skate it again. Got a set of gently used wheels, bought some new bearings and axle nuts, and took her for a little flight tonight. She glidesssssss...

    I think it's from 1986. 20240814_190348.jpg
