I bought this for a low enough price that I can surely break even selling it in my own space at the antique mall.

There's something interesting about it to me...

Do you like it? I'd love to hear your opinions.

    Any and all comments appreciated!

I like it. And think the frame very sympathetic to the work. 1970s from the sticker.

A personal favorite. The symbolism would have been clear to its viewers in c. 1630 when it was painted but the meaning is no longer so. It's believed to represent the Immaculate Conception.

Hmm. Interesting symbolism to get at that idea!

The handling of light on the different surfaces is pretty amazing.

That is amazing. I like the reflection of the rose. It feels
like you can almost dip your finger in that water.

That makes sense, purity (pure water) and the rose of Jesse.
Jesus was often symbolised as a rose that sprung from the (family)tree of Jesse, father of David.

I know nothing about art at all.
My grandparents had some still life paintings in the apt (paternal)

    But
I recently saw a PBS show on Edward Hopper and his art. I was really drawn to it and if I ever found a piece, I would be happy for sure.
Seems he was a very unhappy man in life

Those still life's in your kitchen look great! Always should be something to look at, that's my motto.

Edward Hopper is amazing too-- his paintings just sorta radiate a quiet intensity, I'm not sure how he did that.

They said that most of his paintings were people not looking at each other.
He supposedly had massive fights with his wife and his home did not reflect any money at all. I think he was a troubled man.

She was an artist too, but he didn't want her to paint. If my husband had been like that, he would have had a massive fight on his hands as well.;)

I like some still life paintings. I like yours. It looks like they lean toward being animated objects so have personality.

    Just my 2¢
