    Good evening,
Got this brooch in an antique market, I wonder what does it depicts. It is Signed AJ @Any Jewelry , could it be your initials?
Made of silver 800 most likely.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

    :joyful:
Not mine, but as Cheryl said, I'll know because of my (Indonesian interest/background).;)
It is an orchid brooch, made in Kota Gede, the silver town of Yogyakarta/Djokjakarta, in Central Java, Indonesia. Usually referred to as Djokja silver or Yogya silver.
The motifs on the orchid, and on other Djokja silver, are very old Javanese motifs, some of them inspired by Hindu temple decorations.
AJ is one of the known workshops, but the name of the owner is not known. Time frame is likely 1930s-1950s.

The "lucky amulet" part of the ebay listing is nonsense. Some people think that everything Asian is an amulet, etc etc. It is simply a nice brooch, made mostly for the Indo-European and European market. I have one as well.:)
Could be. The Djokja fineness ranges from 800-950. I can read 8, but after that is a mystery to me.

Djokja fineness differs because pieces were often made from silver the customer brought in.
