I have a painting, oil on canvas. There's a hard to read faint name at the bottom right written in red ink. I thought it was odd signed in red. So, I decided to shine a light from the back to the front. I notice some writing, but hard to read. So, I went into a dark room and shine my wide angle flashlight from back to front. Now, the complete picture became clear.

    This is what I found:

    1. The Original Signature of the artist ( I think someone was trying to take claim for the painting and had no idea the information of the original painter was hidden. The names are also different)
    2. Dated: 12/63
    4. There's a different painting INSIDE the the visible painting which can only be seen with the flashlight. The front is totally different from the hidden as you can see here. Please review the photos and get a better understanding of my request
    5. Hidden art description: Barn, Fence, Road, Trees, "Spurs"? etc

The first photo is the front. The other are the rear. I can only upload 3 photos. front.jpg signature.jpg hidden3.jpg

This is where I need assistance. I think I can identify a few letters of the original artist. I am seeking help with the artist complete name.

    Thanks,
    Stan

To lay claim over an amateur painting just doesn't seem likely. Artists paint over previously painted pieces just to reuse the canvases.
