IMG_8686.jpeg I have a new to me Sligh furniture of Holland, Michigan desk. It is beautiful I looked for numbers of what year it was from, but I couldn’t find any. I found a couple desk like it online, although mine does not have a leather top. I also don’t have the key and there is no manufacturer on the back of the lock I was thinking of trying a locksmith for a new key. I am wondering how to refurbish the cherry wood look, take some of the scratches off the top, Just to bring it back to life a little more Any help is appreciated I’ve read through other post about Sligh furniture and I didn’t find anything that I have questions for.

Looks like a 1940s Colonial Revival library table. If you want to refresh the finish, get some Howard’s Restore-a-Finish product for cherry at a hardware store. It works wonders without stripping; it will take care of any errant scratches or discolorations while keeping the original finish.

And no, I don’t work for them or own stock….

Don't think it is as old as the 40s. May be as late as the 80s. Need to see more pictures. Label, back, drawer construction, etc.

Thanks for the pics. I am not finding anything definitive about this particular Sligh Logo. I can say it is not a particularly early one. Other sellers seem to indicate it being late 20th century, with one seller saying 80s and another 90s. This fits with my evaluation and I see nothing in the new pictures to persuade me otherwise. The use of a lauan plywood drawer bottom also confirms this thought, coming into widespread use in the 70s or later.

I was thinking late 70s. I wasn't able to get the history of purchase or hand me down info. But I cherish it all the same. It's going to be lovely in my room. Thanks for everything.
