Old Black Beret or Honours Cap

This was a recent purchase that I am trying to identify. It looks like a Black Beret or Honours Cap. On the front of the cap is "52 RB". On the inside of the cap it says what I think could be "A. A. Jones" "Samual Brothers LTD" "Authentic" "Ludgate Hill and Oxford Circus".

Does anyone know what type of hat this is, what the "52 RB" means or represents and how old the hat is or anything else?

That's what it looks like. Not terribly old, given the addresses. Edwardian not Victorian.

Thanks Debora and daveydempsey! I thought it may be a Rugby or football award cap. I read that company also made a lot of military hats too but I wasn't sure what it was. I was wondering what the "52 RB" represented, perhaps the player number 52 and RB for Running Back or 52nd Royal Brigate but perhaps not. Anyways, thanks again!
