This hand painted plaster figure is 16cm high. It depicts a nursing mother.

It’s very well modelled . I’ve been unable to find anything like it although she came in an auction with a bunch of Shiwan mud men figures from around the 1980s .

Her features are serene almost Guan Yin like.

I’m guessing that she is Chinese and maybe mid 20th century.

    Any thoughts?

Her costume is Korean, which doesn't mean she couldn't have been made outside Korea.

Well, the large-footed child is perhaps past infanthood and is a toddler. Or the mother is very small. ☺️

I'm not saying he's young or old, I'm saying the piece se weird to me
the head and shoulders may pass but the rest leaves a lot to be desired

the feet ,the hands, the childs lips that ressemble a bottle neck ..etc etc

A piece like this doesn't have to have perfect proportions.
You like Mata Hari (as do I). She was flat-chested and didn't have a perfect woman's waist, yet people found her enchanting and desirable.

definitely Korean clothes. The thing I noticed first was that her eybrows are molded in one spot and enameled on somewhere else! It must have been a fashion thing for a while, unless it was a goof at the factory.

Thanks for all the comments . I think I’m leaning towards it being a Korean figure as I asked on a Chinese fb forum and Korean was suggested there too. Tentative date c1970
