Featured Sandcast jewelry question

I saw a pair of pierced dangling earrings today that looked like sand cast with turquoise. However, the back was shiny unlike the matter front, and I couldn't discern any markings. Turquoise were in a saw tooth setting... I called the store and they are holding them for me, they are only $12, and for only $12, if they are costume, I'll happily wear them. The seller marked them as sterling on the price tag (not unusual, she makes mistakes.) My question is: can sand caste earrings be shiny on the back? Thanks.

 

if they are silver and well cast........a good polish will make them gleam.....
