From same pile as pants I posted. I’d think later 19th century if I had commit to an era. I suppose could be earlier or also maybe early 20th is a possibility. It’s 39” end to end. I didn’t try it in but I’d guess for a lady or petite man. 63A8467B-04EC-45DC-BDE3-3D62E32A74A7.jpeg 5D9E7AF7-485F-4398-8D0C-8F91A61FB1F2.jpeg ED8E2825-BD4A-47FC-B3C5-A05D6FBCFB83.jpeg

Could/would you photograph is on a hanger please? Is it hand- or machine- sewn?

I’ll check on that and take some photos tomorrow. I need to just put a little hook in the wall somewhere for photographing garments. I never have a good place to do it.

Top of a door frame should do it.

The deteriorated condition of the silk lining looks like weighted silk, which would date it to the 1870s or later.

That’s generally what I use but I’d like a cleaner looking more professional place to bang out photos of garments quickly at some point.

So hand- or machine-stitched? Or a combination of both?

I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer that question. It looks pretty uniform so I’d guess machine or a combination of both. I can get clearer images of the stitching if it’s helpful.

That would be helpful. Machine-stitching is going to be regular. Hand, not so much. And sewing machines, although invented earlier, weren't widely used until the Victorian era.
