Anyone know anything about it? Handle Looks old enough to be in 19th c. blade have no marking of any kind. I wouldn’t trust using it in a fight. I got it anyways cus I collect swords IMG_7816.jpeg IMG_7820.jpeg IMG_7823.jpeg IMG_7819.jpeg IMG_7821.jpeg

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Tried to sharpen, enhance, and enlarge, but not sure I accomplished much!!! BUT.....can you tell if where I've outlined in RED if that's some sort of writing??? Best I could do with it......

It looks like the blade was crudely cleaned. Or am I wrong?

Appreciate the effort. But I also don’t think that’s ‘real’ writing.Thou it almost looks like it says ‘Rambo’ :)

I'm thinking it's a reproduction ...where the blade did not have to be up to specks..
& I see inconsistencies in the brass handle..

Interesting take on it. I didn’t consider that at all (but I really won’t know) It looked legit to me (also the scabbard looks really old)

But being a reproduction would explain the lesser quality then “won’t trust using it in a fight”

If it is a reproduction then it must be a overall ‘good quality’ much older reproduction, yes? Anyway it’s a cool thing.

I did more research on the type of sword they are all like that. spadroon It’s just a crappy type of sword. I am actually an A ranked epee fencer . Pretty sure it’s genuine there are inspection marks on the grip, not in picture. It just throws me off this blade doesn’t have any makers mark. It might just be an earlier sword before the civil war. Since most m1840 were order and made for during the war.

Understood. As I say I really don’t have any real knowledge regarding antique swords. My first thought was also that it must be old. Plus you have it in hand and you have the expertise..

    Ditto.
Not my specialisation, but I wouldn't go into battle with that sword.:sorry: Very decorative though.
