    Hi,
I found this last week & I can't make out the artist's last name no matter how many ways I try to see it better!
Hoping someone here will be able to tell!

    Thank you!

I see "Louise August." And, hey! Where's our photograph of the back?

Yeah, Louise August. You can do an internet search for her.

Not framer, art dealer. That's the Decoration & Design Building so originally sold through the trade. You have the date 1963. That label was newly out-of-date with telephone exchange name and two-digit postal code.

    Debora,
Is it a painting (I can feel ridges where lines are; almost like done with a exacto knife) & at the risk of sounding stupid (again!) - what does newly out of date mean?
Many thanks Debora, you are a saint (with the patience of Job!)

Postal codes went from two to five digits in 1963, the year of your painting. And in New York, the name telephone exchanges (e.g. Plaza) began to be phased out in 1960.

    Debora,
It is in some kind of board or something with a frame edge? I'm not sure how to tell if it's Masonite?

From below looking it looks like there's paper? Or something painted white?
I can take a couple of the nails out if needed/worth it?
