    Bought this lamp yesterday

Screw holes and felt. Any idea what the original base could have looked like?
    image1.jpeg
And would this hole originaly be for a switch?
    image4.jpeg
And any idea how old this could be (based on style and/or socket)?

But I can't see that as appropriate as a desk lamp.

Looks like a screw-down patio lamp from the 1970s.

wouldn't the stars make it an indoor lamp?

That's what made me think it would be for use indoors. It doesn't seem to be Dutch-weather-proof to be used outdoors.

I doubt that the stars make it uniquely for indoor use. And seriously, most desk lamps are neither screwed down nor do they have amber glass.

I imagine this attached to the top of an outdoor stone pillar.

    Something like this:

I think that would have been a buffet lamp .The stars are to let the heat out .Id guess 1920s.

Silly me, somehow the fact that the stars were actually holes escaped my notice. :bag:

One can be forgiven for such a minor oversight on such a lovely day !!!!!:playful::playful::playful:

It would work on a veranda.
If used indoors it wouldn't work as a desk lamp, with that amber glass. Maybe for a vampyre, but not for us humans.:vamp::playful:

Would this hole be intended to have the cord going throught it? Or would this be for the on/off switch, with the cord going through whatever it was screwed on?

Nope, simple round hole in the base. I didn't measure it, but I think it will be 1.5 cm
