Seems rather plain. Anything interesting about it? The last line is kinda confusing to me. 11th Month, 9th Age? What's the 20 for then.

How old were they normally when they did these? Very young? Not the 11th day of the 9th month? At the age of 20? Or didn’t 20 year olds make samplers?

As far as I know, it was mostly a grade school thing. I would expect something much more proficient from a 20 year old doing this type of thing.

I reckon they are 9 years old and born in 20 (1820) and it was completed in November (11th Month)

There was some store (Old America?) that sold new samplers that ended up in many an antique mall. They looked an awful lot like this.

To rule that out we'd need to see the back too. If the green is a LOT brighter, it would indicate real age. Some other colors too, but there's a lot of green.

Good idea. Would/could you post a photograph of the back?

Well, it's framed, and the back is nailed, so i'd rather not mess with that unless I needed to. It came from a reputable auction house. I'd be surprised if it was a newer imitation or fantasy piece. Here are some detail views of the thread from the front:

Framed after 1829. Maybe a 1929 Colonial Revival piece? Those are round nails, so made by machine.

    The frame was junk.

The front and back look like they're the same color, so either it's never been in the sunlight or it's not as old as it wants to be.
