    Hi dear Members,

I've got today this brooch and I'm struggling to identify its age. Could it be 40s, or, maybe, later?

I thought that closure looks like from 40s, but I don't understand why the pin is so long.
Also, looks like central "stone" was replaced(?), as mount has a heart shape and stone is round, or it's normal?

There are no marks, and metal was gold colour originally, however now it's a mix of gold and silver colours.

Generally this brooch is a bit odd, it looks like it is mould made, but it is too imperfect for a mould production... maybe it was just a bad mould:smuggrin:

As always, all opinions are highly appreciated!

P.S.: and yes, a little bit of my hand... again))

I think older than 1940s, maybe? I'm not good with clasps, that double end where it links in might be a clue.

Quite sure that center stone has been replaced. It would have been a heart as you suggested.

It looks like it was pieces soldered together from a goldsmith's scrap drawer.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Very Pretty!!!! It looks like there could be initials on that back-side of the gold around the heart.......I think....my lower 'shot'!!

From the way the glass is molded and the way the pin stem is made, I'd think more 1970 than 1940.

    A sweet little brooch.
I agree, that stone must be a replacement.
Also, the clasp is missing the central roll-over part. That happens sometimes with roll-over clasps.
Could have been gilded silver, could also be base metal all the way. The missing roll-over bit makes me think it could be the latter.

Agree on both points, I don't think it's silver, just a coloured metal. And I think You're right regarding missing roll-over bit, otherwise, there is no sense of the roll-over to be double.

You could 'harvest' the missing part from a cheap brooch. All you need to do is put it in the middle of the two remaining bits and squeeze them tighter with soft-tipped pliers. If you don't have soft- tipped pliers, cover the clasp with a soft cloth.
