Turkish Saltas Vest, Sirma Thread on Wool

The short story: I bought this about 20 years ago from an old fellow who had become tired of storing an' caring for it. His name was Pasquale...he died a month ago at 94.
I brought it home from the storage room to share with y'all. The dimensioned illustration is his work; he was a commercial artist & graphic designer for many years.
I should have done some research before posting this...but didn't. I will now leave this wee delight for your perusal an' comments, while I go see what I can discover about it. Thanks for lookin'!

 

It is beautiful, whit. With that white felt-like material, I wonder if it is Bulgarian or a neighbouring Balkan region, rather than Turkish.

 

Could certainly be, AJ. Tho' Pasquale used the word Saltas in his description, it has not come up (yet) in my meandering searches. Also, nearly all the Turkish vests that have appeared in them have been more ornate, with the embroidery covering a much larger portion of the front panels, as well as the entire back. He also said the lining had been replaced...an' that is apparent upon casual examination.
