Featured antique cherub

How old is this cast iron cherub? It is very heavy.

 

Looks like lead?

 

Looks like it’s been exposed to the elements. Maybe part of a garden feature or fountain (sitting with feet part in the water) Do you think Victorian?

 

it is hollow inside and definitely cast iron. the legs have been broken of and soldered on.

 

I agree that it could have been part of a garden ornament. Maybe it sat with its legs in a fountain or pond?
It could also have had casting issues from the start.

I see some brown, possibly a blackened metal.

How do you know it is antique?

 

well judging the pitting on the legs and the wear on the sole of the feet. I thought it is antique. i think it is one off the handles of a cast iron garden urn.

 

i bought two cherubs the one on the first photoś and a bronze one. are they both not antique?

is the bronze cherub 19th or 20th century?

 

well the bronze cherub is 19th century according david from bargain hunt. he also had a bronze cherub putti angel with the same file marks on the bronze

 

what is your opinion about the age of the cast iron cherub?
