Thank you. At someone's suggestion, I changed my Comcast address to my gmail, which you obviously are not seeing. In fact, I can't log on with my Comcast email since I changed to gmail. When I did that switch, there was a message saying my account might have to be looked at again.I've not gotten confirmation on gmail, either.

Should start over? If I close my account, and start fresh, will I run into problems? I don't know what else to do.

This is the message when changing my email address: "If you change your email, you may need to reconfirm your account". But I did not receive anything about reconfirming my account on my gmail.

    ...........................................................................
The forum software automatically sends the request for email confirmation when a new member registers. And if that member ask that another request for confirmation be sent to them because they didn't get the 1st one, then the software automatically sends you another one. Point is - the emails are sent !

But here's the issue - if you didn't get the 1st one, you're not going to get any others either. And this applies to everyone who has this problem.

What happens is this. The emails are being sent to you, but they are simply not getting to you. Why ? There are several possible reasons.
1 - the emails may be in your SPAM folder.
2 - your email provider may be blocking emails from Antiquers because they think the emails are SPAM.
3 - the email program (software) that you use may be blocking emails from Antiquers because that program thinks the emails are SPAM.
4 - you may inadvertently be the reason yourself because of the settings you are using on your email program.
5 - it may be the anti-virus or security software you are using, and or the settings you chose when you set that program up.

Any and all of these may be the reason the emails do not get to you. And not a single one of them have anything to do with Antiquers, nor can the Antiquers staff do anything to correct the problem because quite simply - we do not have any control over any of that.

The only person who can fix the problem is you, the member, the person who is having the problem. And if the problem is being caused by reason #2 or #3 even you can't fix it because you don't have any control over those. But you can fix the problem if any of the other 3 are the cause. And no, I can't help you figure it out - only you have ability to figure it out because only you have access to all the settings you have to check to be able to figure it out.

But what you can do is this - you can choose to use Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo - they all work. Members who use them do not have problems getting emails from Antiquers.

And if you don't like having more than 1 email address to check every day well that's pretty easy to manage too. Just have emails sent to your new email address forwarded to the email address you like to use. Then all your emails end up in one place.

Thank you. I do know how to receive all my emails in one place, but both gmail and comcast are not playing nice together so that I can get all my messages downloaded to my local email software. I am still working on that. I added this site to "rules" so it would not be treated as spam. Nothing is landing in my spam folders.

I am computer savvy, so when things like this happen, it's frustrating. Can I make one more request of you, and then I'll give up? I've looked, but don't see a way to close my account and start fresh after doing what I can do ensure this site isn't treated as spam, if that's what's going on. I want to try a different browser, because sometimes it's as simple as that.

Let me know - I'd really like to become a part of this community. Thanks in advance.

You can't close your account, if you stop posting with this ID your posts will just go down the list into the basement.
I can't close your account unless I ban you, this action will also ban any other ID with the same IP Address.

Best thing I can suggest is create another ID and password using a different email and go from there.

Ha ... I haven't had much choice, have I? Hope to get it figured out so that I can participate more fully in the forums. I've got lots of good collecting and selling stories to share.

Thanks for asking. I'm trying to figure this out. If I make a whole new profile (which appears is my only option) with a new email address, will I lose all alerts, watched threads, posts, etc.?

Just changing the email on my account to my gmail (which I was told works for everyone), didn't help, nor did I receive a confirmation email as I was hoping would happen with the email change.

Will I have to be Virginia 2.0 ...
