Pardon me if I asked about this before, but I have an offer and I don't know how to value it. The prices are wildly different on different sites.

This was my Aunt's dress and it's about half my size so I can't wear it. Near mint condition as you can see. Only the belt tassels are a bit ragged.

Does anyone know where I can get the best valuation before I respond to the person?

Too cute but, unfortunately, not his most collectible period. I'd probably let eBay be my guide. His 1970s polyester hostess gowns appear to be selling in the $80s to the $50s so somewhere in that range, perhaps at the lower end given length. Condition matters too, of course. I see some hand stitching. Is that a repair?

I agree with Debora. I've been dealing in vintage fashion since 1990 and I had a Shaheen that was very similar back in the naughties when prices were still decent, yet it still only realized around $60-70. Nowadays, I would think it closer to $40-50.

It's the 1950s cotton/barkcloth Shaheen dresses, especially sarong and fit-and-flare styles, that bring the best prices.

I've got one of those Alfred Shaheen '50s or '60s rockabilly dresses that those Viva Las Vegas girls love so much. Black, white and metallic gold, ferns and bird of paradise pattern on red.

I had it listed on Etsy once, but my account was nuked with no notice. They were asking me to accept some kind of coupons. I looked over the form they sent me without saying yes or no, I just clicked out of it without making a decision. Next time I went back to Etsy my account didn't exist and all my listings were gone. I never complained or asked them why. I just shrugged and blew them a kiss goodbye.

I can see that with some catseye glasses, black heels, and bright lipstick and black sunglasses rockin' down the road. The OPs would be a tough sale here.

It's one of the women on Facebook who wants the dress.
My aunt was the family fashion plate and she had a lot of classic dresses. Unfortunately, when she passed, my cousin took it all to a Goodwill bin. I was lucky to get one item.

Unbelievable. Speaking generally... I'm always surprised that some people have no appreciation of the past. Think it demonstrates a woeful lack of imagination. And romance.

I can't figure out how to read messages from non-FB people so I may never be able to contact the woman who wanted it!
