I get up early for church sales, flea markets, and community yard sales. Estate sales I pop in later, not fighting the crowds. Thrifts here, you never know when they will put things out. One stocks their jewelry booth late Saturday. Another brings jewelry out Tuesday morning. I donate a lot of clothing and household goods, so they know me.

Back in my wandering days I landed in Couer D'Alene Idaho and I worked at a St Vincent De Paul thrift . They had a little efficiency apartment carved out of the warehouse and thats where I stayed for like 6 weeks. During the day we would go pick up stuff. I'll never forget the one tiny old house some old lady donated that was packed to the rafters with all this huge ornate victorian furniture and loads of bric a brac and what not. It took us 3 days and multiple trips to get it all. I thought that she had once had a much grander house, maybe she hit reduced circumstances. I used to spend nights just digging away thru the mountain of stuff in that warehouse. I found the 1st 3 books of the Frank L Baum Wizard of Oz series, all mint in the dust jackets. One of the few things I took with me when I left ,paid a quarter each ! Sold them in Atlanta for $125 each, wich was a fortune in 1979 ! I was rather sad to go because everyone was just so lovely to me and they treated me well. But I had sand in my shoes ,as my old dad used to say.

The only reason I got those beads was because I was looking nosy around their pile of unsorted stuff and she let me look through it all. The other week the cashier let me have a sterling bud vase for 2 euros but a small pair of brass owl figures were 10. I put down the owls and sold the vase for 30. I will be making a donation to the charity when I sell the beads to make up for whisking it away from them

They already have at least 1 jewelry lady, and most of the really good stuff I overheard them say goes to auctions.

I decided to rearrange my tiny living room to fit my $5 peacock chair. Jewelry pics later. 20240602_135623.jpg
The painting above the chair is a section of Amen corner from hubby's golfing days. This fall, we are redoing our stairs and painting a light gray on the walls. I will be replacing his paintings with seascapes.

I wish I could send you all THREE of those Amen corner paintings. They don't match the decor at all. Hubby doesn't golf anymore after two knee replacements. They have been up for 24 YEARS. My turn to have seascape photographs done by a local artist.
