Hello, I hope you are all doing great. Recently, I found this pair of angels at a fair. I was particularly drawn to them because of their really grotesque appearance. One is slightly bald, the other has bloody eyes, and their expressions are also not the most pleasant, but it was precisely these "flaws" that attracted me to buy them. The craftsmanship is excellent, both in terms of carving and painting. Judging by the wood, they could also be quite old. If anyone has more experience with angels, perhaps you could advise me on which period they belong to? Due to the exaggerations in their appearance, it seems possible that they could be from the 18th century, but I wouldn't mind if they are younger... I would be grateful for any help in finding the answer. Also, I would be happy to hear your opinions on how they look. I was trying to figure out what the silver white but was and finally realized it's a cloud! Odd, but charming at the same time. Datewise I would guess late 19th/early 20th c.

I don't think you will find an exact copy because these were carved one off's but the style and aging will be the same, even the paint might be in the same shade.
