The Lenox plant was here in our county in Pomona, NJ. My aunt worked there as a quality inspector. Many people here had relatives that worked there. I got to see the Presidential china made for the Reagan Whitehouse. My favorite pattern is Autumn, and I always pick up accessory pieces. It is in demand here; my friend donated a complete set of Holiday dinnerware with accessory pieces to Mew to You- it flew out of the door. I researched sold prices on EBay without adding in shipping fees, and the shop should make a nice profit. The lady contacted me today, she has more pieces she wants to sell. I only pick up the Made in USA pieces with the gold wreath stamp.

Meanwhile, these paper bits are often more expensive now than antique hardwood furniture. Go figure!

Autumn was the pattern I picked out as 'my' china pattern when still a teenager, and then in my mid-twenties acquired a rather large service for eight in a slightly unusual way. I managed a luggage and gift store through most of the '80s, one of our popular lines was Hartmann Luggage, they had a points program for sales, I was a pretty good salesperson, and like many others in the company, had used the points for several pieces of their classic Walnut Tweed, given luggage and leather goods to relatives and friends, and still had tons of points built up. Then somewhere in the '80s, Brown-Forman acquired Hartmann as well as Lenox China, and they started offering us china for the points, so of course, I ordered my Autumn service, which I still love (even named a long-gone Siamese-mix 'Autumn' (usually called 'Tummy'), because her beautiful eyes were the same lovely shade of blue found in the pattern)...

My aunt got a 50% discount and got a friend of mine a huge set of Autumn china in the early 80s. I think it's the most beautiful china pattern anywhere. They made linens to match it, I found a few.

A few things Ive gotten around to photographing. 1st up was these lovely chairs.$4 each from the evil Hoodwill. I guessed 1870s or so. Very sturdy and worked out nicely since I had them tucked away (hidden) in my spare room and mom gave the black ones to my niece for her new house. Her face when I pulled them out was priceless !

    Johnny-Those chairs are minty.Age wise,I'd agree at 1870-80's.

Pretty upholstery job too. I'm guessing not the original, but it's older.

Agree. The upholstery, although not original, works well. 1940s-1950s I'd think from the colorway. So vintage.

Now I see why she chose it. I would have gone with something more red, white, and blue with an eagle.

I really have not been out and about as much the past couple weeks. Bought a killer wrought iron and marble table shown in the furniture forum. Did manage to find a few other things.

Have not been able to identify this oil lamp. Burner is a replacement. Bought for $6.00

I know this kind of thing has virtually no value to most these days but how can you pass up something over 100 years old, rare as hen's teeth, and only $3.00? German secessionist tray by Max Roesler. I was able to find one other with more decoration listed for reasonably good money. I guess waiting for just the right buyer. Just shy of 14" long.

I initially thought these were ashtrays but maybe chopstick holders? Marked Made in Japan. Bought at a stumbled upon garage sale late in the day. $1.00 each.

    thriftpot36.jpg

From same garage sale for $4.00.

    thriftbox14.jpg

Champleve salt and pepper shakers. Thai? $2.00

    thriftbrass2.jpg

Pair of letter holders. First is Michael Graves for Target 2003. $1.70 Second is a mystery. Hammered/chased copper with enamel. Was able to find a matching desk organizer but no information. Has an MCM look but I am thinking more modern but retro in style. Bought for $3.00.

    thriftstuff.jpg

Oregon souvenir tray. Japanese antimony with a brass or copper wash. Haven't really tried to clean this up yet. $0.75.

Ironically, I had one of these tiles pretty recently here. Sold in my last sales endeavor. By local artist, Tanya Shur. Bought for $1.70.

I am laid up due to a concussion, missing two shows this weekend. Spent 3 hours in the ER Thursday, had a brain CAT scan done to be safe rather than sorry. It's killing me to rest, but snapping a few shots of some recent finds is minimum activity.
These are original, uncut Barbie sewing patterns from 1961. They do sell repro copies, but collectors will pay for originals. $5 for the pair.
