That is true; Queen Elizabeth is definitely one for the history books. She accomplished much in her youth before becoming Queen and afterward in serving her country, which was not common for a woman monarch. She learned much from her father, George VI, which made her even more suitable for the throne. I think attitudes towards the monarchy have a lot to do with the perception of the necessity of a monarchy.

I remember growing up and not seeing much of the monarchy in the news (besides Charles, Diana, and Camilla) as we do now with the Royals). I think the news is over-saturated with their lives. Maybe if they were allowed to live as normal individuals, and instead of tabloid news, they were perceived positively, attitudes would be greatly improved. That's just my opinion.

Of course, Charles has a full plate as he is much older, has health issues, and is different from his mother. Queen Elizabeth also came from a different era and believed in many of the old ways of the monarchy. Hopefully, he will have a more appealing attitude to the population of Britian. From my reading, his popularity ratings have risen only among those 55 years and above, with little impact from the younger generation. But those are only surveys of a few thousand. I try to stay informed about current affairs, especially those which involve America. I hope King Charles gives Britain the best to prove he has what it takes.

As I mentioned earlier, I found the item among other things that a friend gave me, and I have no use for it. My daughter thinks I collect too many things, and I admit I love trinkets and such. It is the only item I have that has any connection to British history. I have a variety of other items, such as ivory and jade elephants, porcelain and crystal figurines that were either inherited, gifted to me, or collected by me, and several vases. However, my China cabinet is overflowing with these items, and my apartment can only hold a limited number of things without appearing cluttered. Moreover, I know that if something were to happen to me, my daughter would not hesitate to sell anything that she did not find sentimental or an heirloom. Therefore, I would like to provide this item with a good home where it can be appreciated for its value rather than its worth.

I believe I have European ancestry (my paternal grandmother (half German), she was adopted).
I have been researching my lineage for years. I hesitate to do the DNA test because, despite the disclaimers, you never know what else it can be used for.

I was browsing through the prices that others have sold similar items for, and I was shocked to see how high some of them were. However, I'm glad to have spoken with you so that I can get a better sense of how much my own item might be worth. I have a lot of things that I need to identify and potentially appraise as I am trying to declutter my apartment. Of course, I won't be getting rid of any personal items or family heirlooms. Unfortunately, I don't have any space for these things, and I'm also concerned about my grandchildren playing around them. Since I can no longer keep things in the basement of the house I rent, everything is currently stored on my sun porch, and I'm going through each item one by one. I even came across some old Wii game controllers and accessories, but the console was stolen, so I'm not sure what to do with them. It's funny how it reminds me of the time when we used to play Atari! :)
