Flea market buy. An inch an a half long, one Pearl missing. Stamped Sterling on the back of one and silver on both ends of screws. Would this deliberate looking black background with the engraved design be called niello? I’ve not had any before so not sure if that’s the correct term for these. Seem to have a bit of a mourning vibe with the black and the Pearl. Some of the black seems to be wearing off. Thinking 1910 ish but happy to be corrected on this date. Thanks for any help.

Thanks very much. So my earrings are called nielloware or niello enamel on silver because of the background rather than niello which goes into engraved areas. Looks like an unhealthy patination process.
