Featured 18th C Nesting weights or ?

Hiya all,

Picked up this weekend. Set of English? Nesting weights. 1st date 1784 then 1822 then 1846 ? Can anyone tell me about them? Been looking on the net but the dates are confusing to me.

 

Some of the dates may be when the weights were recertified.

These are very special, these are already very collectable but with all those recertification stamps and because these are weights and measures stamps they won't be faked, they are like hallmarks. I think you need to do your research but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't very valuable

Thank you. I skimmed through it but no marks I see in it.

 

I am no expert but years ago I used to collect science related antiques (one day I'll show them) these nested weights were always hotly contested in auction, I'm afraid you might need to read all of the bumf to get the info you need. I had a quick scan as well, from page 49 onward I think.

 

Try looking from page 260 onward

 

I don't know but I think these are older (by a lot) than the first date.
