I need to upload some pictures of a jug I found today. If it's as old as it wants to be it's pearlware or similar. Probably not worth much, but it's the first good thing I've found at the Ill Will in ages.

Bracelets were half-priced at one of my thrifts yesterday. I grabbed this as soon as it came out, cute lizard costume, total $2.50 with discount. I didn't realize it was sterling until I got home. Very heavy, solid full figurals. Are they geckos? I haven't seen another like it googling. Somebody added a soldered extender link. These days geckos are a hot commodity. I think Marko scored on that one.

Found this the other day. At first I didn't think it was as old as the inscription said, but hey... The crack has been there since the day it was made, or at least fired, and no modern manufacturer would have let it off of the factory floor. The blob on the handle would have doomed it too. I think it's pearlware? We don't see much of it here, or I don't, and for US$3 the price of my education was pretty low.

    Is that 1844?

Are we thinking a do-it-yourself paint job? It's very pretty. I am also here for the education.

Thanks! I doubt it's valuable, but given its location "try and find another one". They weren't exported and the darned thing was on the shelf in a GoodWill, among the Target dinnerware and cheap glass. Lots of bare shelves too...and there sits this jug, 180 years old... for three bucks. Daheck???

It's under the clear glaze. The Brits made a lot of them, but as far as I know didn't export many.

It might be Scottish, the design looks it. It’d be thirty to fifty quid here.

I think I paid about 10% of the low end including tax.(LOL)

Today was a church sale - spent $30 including the $2 admission charge. Found an American railroad lantern that someone converted to electricity.(sigh) Poor thing. The crying shame is that it's stamped for the New York, New Haven and Hartford, so they messed up a good one.

I am a rare book collector. I was so happy today to find this STUNNING victorian Berkey & Gay barrister bookcase in beautiful original condition w/ the original key at the free store. Did I do good? I wish to know more about it! Screenshot 2024-04-25 215012.jpg

Not Victorian but circa 1920. Depending on what you paid, you did well. Berkey and Gay is quality furniture.

Very good question, actually! I will have to take one out and get pics of it.

They are also for sale if anyone is interested in either one, or, the full lot. I'm personally in awe that the boxes have survived all of this time!!
