    I am a rare book collector.

    I found this today at a free store. I had no idea what exactly it was until I took it home, cleaned it up, and examined the plate. The model number stamped on the backside in 197B, and the maker's plate indicates it was made during the height of their company, from 1900-1928.

    I would love to know more about this beautiful book case which is going to house the most rare selection of my books! To have the original key is a BLESSING!

    Thank you!

    Looks like an AI image. Oh yeah if you’re wondering about the “reserved” posts. I’m new here so I didn’t know you could attach more than one picture to a post so I accidentally made three initial posts.

    A very handsome piece. Will do your rare books proud. And "free" even better!

    As I said in the finds thread, circa 1920. Free is great! What is a free store? (I think I know but how do they pay the rent?) .... and where can one be found?

    Thank you. My apologies. Just a glass fronted bookcase then

    @2manybooks beat me to it!
    Barrister bookcases are stacking single bookcases and are very collectible.
    But that's a lovely B&G display cabinet!
    I think it may be later than your estimate, the medallion does not have the concentric rings of the older style.

    A barrister would not meet my needs anyway as several of my books are limited oversized large bound and would not fit. This one is adjustable.

    The last 'Free Stores' I recall were run by Hippies in the 60's,cool the military revived the practice ! The Cosmos indeed works in mysterious ways.
