is it possible to tell the age of this one ?

 

The answer is exactly no but I can tell you it's later than 1930's but I suspect it's 60's or 70's or even later. Like all great tourist ware when tourists were few the objects made were of the highest quality (typically between 1650-1920) then mass tourism happened. This piece is late tourist ware in Iran so likely before the fall of the Shah and after the golden age of Khatam (pre-1920's) Khatam didn't change much after that and it's still made today in the same way.

They were in the Middle East in 1971......... so that fits to buying it new.

 

Still a huge amount of work that went into making the frame and miniature just that earlier pieces are magnificent.
