Featured Garuda bell

    The bells were often modeled after existing ones which could have been made by a more refined maker, maybe in a larger town. The Garuda is a local version.
    It is also Indian. I agree it has some age, there is wear on the bottom. It also has a nice patina. Probably first half of the 20th century.

    Thanks, AJ...I've resisted adding a clapper, out of caution that it may have more value left just as it is...but its chime when lightly struck is so sweet that I may do it anyway.

    Hi there bell companion, it seems that it is usual that the top and bottom part of those bells are made seperately and consists of different materials a production style. My bell part is atracted to a magnet what is pretty strange because bronze usualy is not magnetic. While the upper part does not atract a magnet. You should try it yourself. And i think that any jewwelry can explain why the top and bottom part are always different.
