french faience pottery plaque / trivet ?

    Hi folks

    this was a recent ebay acquisition. was £25 so not exactly cheap

    not really worried about the value as i just wanted to own/see it

    as you can see has a staple repair right through it, notice they have added the staple to the front border to make it less visible

    i think its a lovely image, and large 8 by 8 inches

    be interested in finding out its age though, maybe a trivet ?

    any thoughts or info appreciated

    It is beautiful, Charlie, with nice French country charm.:happy: I like the sympathetic placement of the two staples on the front, and of course I like the staples full stop.;)
    Seeing the back, it looks like a trivet, but I would happily hang it on my kitchen wall.:)

    The costume is 19th century Breton, but maybe it was made in Rouen, Normandy? The potties will know.
